Book Report

The book “Best Friends“ is a graphic novel with a few words that may be a little advanced for some people ,but it tells us about some things people go through in their daily lives. This could help the reader understand how some people really feel everyday when they dont tell you how they actually feel. Also if you were to read the story and know how the character Shannon feels you might feel bad for the person. It impacted me by showing me how some people make their choices in their daily lives and how worried they might be everyday over small things that aren't actually important but that feel important to them.

The main character “Shannon“ is always trying to fit in with everyone else the best she can because she doesn’t want to feel left out or be forgotten. She wants to feel like she's someone and not just an ordinary nobody. But since she tries to fit in so much she begins to feel less confident, less beautiful, and less of a lot that she never worried about before. What I do appreciate about her though is how persistent she is with everything and she keeps trying over and over. I can relate to that because I can be very persistent when I want to. I get so persistent sometimes I annoy myself because of how annoying I can get.

Even though the book was really good I think there can be some improvements or changes to how it could have gone. First of all, instead of her always trying to fit in, maybe she should have a different problem because in the 3 books the author made all of them have the same problem of her not fitting in, having to try to look pretty and ect. . Maybe she can have a family problem or maybe she could change how she feels about her friends. I just think that it should have a variety of problems because I wouldn’t want to deal or do the same thing all the time. I also think that she should have at least one good friend because the friends she has aren’t the best but she's still stays friends with them because she wants to be popular and be seen as someone. Maybe you could think of something different that could have happened int this book that i didnt think about.

  Is that Shannon? Maybe I should talk to her. “Hey Shannon.” “Hi Jenny.” What should I tell her oh I know “I liked you autumn poem. “ Really? Thanks! Cynthia! Amanda!” “So, Hey, you wanna come over to my house? “ I hope she says yes.  “Sure! But I have to walk my sister and her friend home first. Remember in fourth grade when that magician did an assembly?” “Oh my heck, that was hilarious!” I wonder if we will actually be friends? But I dont know maybe we won’t it doesn’t matter either way. But that magician was funny. “Hello!” Amandas mom replies “Hi Amanda! Did you have a good day? Thanks, Shannon.” “Thank you!” “Her mom pays you to walk her home?” “Yep she hired me for the whole year.” Maybe I could help her? Besides its not like shes already got a lot of money. Maybe I could take Amanda home sometime. Well I don’t feel like having her here any longer so. “You can go home now.” “Um….. okay.”

   Maybe I could walk her home Today besides Shannons not around and I don’t want Amanda getting hurt also I could get some money. “Here she is! Jenny, Shannon came to see you.” “Jenny its my responsibility to walk Amanda home. You shouldn’t have taken her.” ”Well you weren’t around.” I was in the classroom. You knew I walk with her home. Its like you tried to steal my job to get money.” “No I was worried about her!” “The you could have looked for me or waited with her till I got there.” “Well…” “Please don’t do that again.” “ Okay.” She gets on my nerves so much maybe I should pay her back. “Hey Shannon! Did you call your sister last night?” “Yeach and guess who she saw walking down the Hollywood Boulevard?” “Who?” “Michael J. Fox!” I can’t let her be best ffriends with Jen caue then she’ll tell her something about me. I have to say something ,oh. “The A-Team was so good last night” “Oh my gosh yes! Mr. T is so funny.” “Shannon, did you figure out the mystery before the end?” “Um, no, I didnt watch The A-Team yesterday.” “What about Simon & Simon” “No, not that either” A.J. is my favorite” “Yeah A.J. is so fine” “I like Rick better” “What? Rick has a mustache” “Gross!” “I don’t want to him! I just think hes funny!”

Interview

*Interviewer : Welcome ,welcome today we will be interviewing a special guest named Shannon from the book “ Best Friends ” written by Shannon Hale. So Shannon if it’s ok could we ask you some questions ,and are you ready to answer them.

Shannon : Yes it’s fine ,I’m ready.

*Interviewer : So ,Shannon, how did you feel when Jen shared her locker with you ?

Shannon : Well I felt amazing because not only was she my best friend ,but one of the most popular people in school and I thought since we had the same locker I might be popular as well.

*Interviewer : So could you explain why you weren’t popular even after being best friends with Jen ?

Shannon: Well I’m not exactly sure why ,but I think maybe it’s because other students don’t really see me as someone who's popular and either way I don’t have as many friends as other people do.

*Interviewer : So now that we know this could you tell us how you feel about 7th grade over all ?

Shannon : Well I kind of feel like if I don't fit in I would be nothing to anyone and nobody would want to be friends with me.

*Interviewer : Now that we know your thoughts could you tell us why you feel that way?

Shannon : The reason why I feel like this is because my friends are so popular and nobody really even likes me or talks to me besides my friends.

*Interviewer : Well that’s heartbreaking but we do have to move on because this is not therapy, this is an interview. So could you tell us do you regret the decision of pretending that you didn't know your friend ? 

Shannon : I kind of do because now we're no longer friends and I kind of actually liked being his friend.

*Interviewer : Well why did you deny even being friends with him ?

Shannon : Well I guess I just kind of just panicked or got embarrassed of him being my friend because he wasn’t really popular.

*Interviewer : Well that sounds harsh but moving on. So we’ve talked a lot about you not liking or regretting things but now I want to ask what part of this did you like?

Shannon : Well I did like sharing a locker with my best friend oh ,and I loved meeting Adrienne again.

*Interviewer : Well that sounds nice and I know you're on a short time schedule so I will just ask 2-3 more questions. Is that okay?

Shannon : Yes that will be fine.

*Interviewer : So could you tell us what you like about your best friend Jen?

Shannon : Well I guess because she's popular and kind to me. Also everyone else doesn't really talk to me and she does and since she does all of her friends talk to me so then I have people to talk to.

*Interviewer : Ok that answers that question. So what was your goal for 7th grade?

Shannon : Hm I guess it was to try and be one of the popular kids and to fit in with everyone else.

*Interviewer : Well this is our last question before you leave. So what did you accomplish in this book?

Shannon : Fitting in as best as I could and staying friends with Jen.

*Interviewer : Well that's all the questions we have for you today so I wish you farewell and safe travels and I hoped you enjoyed today's interview.
