“William Colgate”

William Colgate, who is this great man

Helped with Oral Care, I’m a big fan

Born in 1783,

In HollingBourne, Kent, England 

At 19 he started his first business,

But it didn’t turn out well

Colgate wasn’t down in the dumps

He was determined to try again 

After moving to Maryland

He wanted to move and get a job and

So in 1804,

Colgate moved to New York

And just like he wanted 

He became a soap maker 

Colgate liked what he did 

And his job was his life

Colgate wanted to run a business again 

So then,

In 1806,

He  ran another business 

And sold candles, soap, and starch 

Colgate’s business was booming

It was consuming 

A lot of money

That in 1817,

He could afford to buy advertisement 

Colgate was making so much money 

That he decided 

To expand the company 

In 1820, made a company in New Jersey 

After his death in 1857

Someone got the company

So in 1873,

They started selling toothpaste  in a jar

20 years later

Business was even greater 

Making new products

Like toothpaste in a tube

While having a successful business 

Colgate Company helped the environment

Like making foundations 

And recyclable toothpaste tubes

They made products better for the world

Because the environment is like our home
