Genesis’ Giving Life!
Genesis Charo was born on August 21st, 2012, on a Tuesday. She was born in Houston, Texas, and her parents are from Mexico. She is one of the six children in her family, being the second youngest and the middle child in her house. Genesis has four brothers and one sister, currently living with just two brothers. She has two house dogs that she cares about so much because she loves pets! She grew up speaking Spanish and learned English when she went to school. She used to share a room with her older sister, but then her sister left for college and moved out. Ever since she was seven, she’s been having her own room, her older brother in the room next to her, and her little brother sleeping in the living room. Though she is the middle child, she always feels like she is the oldest. Being the only girl, she organizes everything, whether it's in her room or not, because her brothers are the definition of a mess.
Since Genesis gets bored easily, she knows what to do when boredom hits; she has tons of hobbies. She loves to shop for clothes and things that might not be necessary, but look nice. Genesis enjoys listening to music all the time. Her favorite singer is Taylor Swift. Her favorite sport is volleyball, but when it comes to watching it or going to a game, she loves soccer. Genesis loves to read books, and she has a little library of her own in her room. She is a huge reader; she reads anytime she has the chance to. Whenever she goes on field trips, whenever she wants to entertain herself, and especially whenever her mind is blank. Reading is a part of her! Her favorite book/movie is "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire". She enjoys this movie and book because the story is so plot-twisting and unexpected. Genesis has a special attachment to The Hunger Games series. She loves baking or cooking, but is too lazy to do it often. She likes to watch YouTube whenever she wants to chill in bed, and likes to do arts and crafts whenever she feels creative. She got a guitar whenever she went to Monterrey around Thanksgiving last year and is still learning! Whenever most of the people around her were in the school band, she felt left out, but she had always wanted to play an instrument. The guitar was perfect for her! The most difficult part about playing an instrument is having to be patient with herself.
Achievements are really important to Genesis. Getting out of TELPAS in fifth grade was one of them because she always felt like being in it was unnecessary. She was supposed to get out in fourth grade! Another achievement was getting a hundred on the math STAAR in sixth and seventh grade. Getting masters on each STAAR test every year was another big accomplishment. She also made the volleyball team in seventh grade and eighth grade! One of her favorite achievements is getting into the varsity choir and becoming the soprano one section leader because she’s the best sight reader in that section. Genesis also made region choir two years in a row. She’s also in all advanced classes and has been in Encounters for five years. Another accomplishment is winning first place in the GPISD Bilingual Competition in fifth grade.
Goal setting this year is something Genesis is still working on. One goal is that she wants to get “A Honor Roll” every semester to close out middle school. A personal goal for her is that she wants to be nicer to her siblings, and she has progressed since last year. She also wants to get masters on all of her STAAR tests, which are four this year. She is really looking towards finishing the eighth grade, but she doesn't want to leave middle school. She is afraid of starting high school, but with the right company, she could be less afraid.
