My 8th grade year has been a very interesting year. There have been many exciting events this year. One of them is going to the elementary' with the band. This was exciting because I got to see how Pyburn looks now that it has been rebuilt. This was also very sad because the place where I had grown up for half of my life has now been destroyed. This was also very exciting because I got to see many of my teachers from previous years. Another event that made this year exciting was choir region. This was exciting to me because I got to be with some of my friends from others schools. Region was also very frightening because the songs this year were a bit tougher than last year and there were more girls than last year, which caused it to be more complicated to be accepted into region. A very special event that caused this year to be exciting was choir UIL. That made my year very exciting because we competed for choir twice in a row, one day for Varsity mixed and another day for Varsity Girls. This made me happy because for both we got sweepstakes and took a UIL 2023 trophy home for our school. This event was also very good because we went to Peter Pipers and Ihop for these competitions. I enjoyed eating and playing around with my friends at both these places because we were able to get out of school and be rewarded for all of our hard work. I also enjoyed participating in track. Track season was very fun because I got to run with a bunch of different people and I enjoyed hanging out with many of my friends, especially Valery, Cristina, Sophia, Karen, Alexa, Dahlia, and Jade. It was a new experience and it helped me learn many new things.
I look forward to the new experiences for next year. But I am also afraid and saddened by the thought of leaving WAMS and going to GPHS. The thought of going to GPHS makes me afraid because it'll feel like 6th grade year all over again. I am also afraid to leave due to the fact I'll be with GPMS kids as well and I won't be familiar with the school and I have a very high chance of getting lost. One thing I'm very excited for is the marching band. Band night showed me how marching band truly is and I highly enjoyed that small experience. This caused me to be even more excited to go to GPHS and be able to march with some of my old friends and be able to make new ones. I hope to make many new memories with new and old friends.
