Fortunate Times
I am from my cozy blanket bed lying in my messy shared room.
From an old puppy stuffed plushie and a long yellow knit blanket.
I am from a kind-hearted place with a silly family that goes all the way for someone's sake.
And from healing hearts by being kind all year.
I am from the old lemon tree in my backyard that was once young but filled.
Who's like the one in my hometown making new lemons each year.
I am from meaningful drawings I make after school all day.
And the pop songs I listen to while working nonstop each day.
I am from Alicia and Angel
and from my grandma’s steaming hot tamales that light up the party.
I am from those moments when it is warm and koozie with my family happy and smiling with ease.
Adventures Throughout the 7th Grade
Reflecting on my year as a 7th grader, I have learned from my mistakes from sixth grade and have become a better person than I used to be. In my 7th grade year, I grew to be more open and close with my friends. Without them I would never be where I am now, through tough times they supported me and helped me overcome the challenges. Although 7th grade was scary and difficult at times because of the new environment and responsibility, it was overall a great experience to go through.
As the school year began the work wasn't tough to finish, but as the weeks and then months passed by, the work increased tremendously. I had the most struggles in ELAR and ThinkTank/ Encounters trying to handle the essays we constantly had, this was especially hard because I always had trouble writing a good essay which meant scores like 3 or 4’s. As the year went by I slowly progressed in Encounters, and now can get work usually done on time, even though I am proud of this small accomplishment I wouldn't say the same thing about ELAR. To this day I still have problems once in a while in this subject but continue to do my best in class to keep my grade up. While Encounters and ELAR were stressful and made me want to give up at times, there were other fun experiences during the classes like enjoying the time with friends during the time working on our projects or simply partner work.
When it came to my grades I would always get A’s when the report card would be given to us. Although I did get high grades I wouldn't say I didn't struggle to get all A’s in my classes. Day after day I had to stay after school for tutorials to finish assignments I did not understand or hadn't finished. If not after school, I would do my work early in the mornings before we left the house which caused me to fall asleep due to the lack of sleep I always had. Even as hard as it was to keep up I eventually struggled less and less with the help of my classmates next to me and my teachers. Apart from grades, I enjoyed my electives like band and art, these were both electives that I could always express and be myself.
Looking back, I have realized how much I changed during this quick year in both academic and social skills. From many challenges and mistakes, I've gained very valuable lessons and solutions that will allow me to improve in any of my flaws over the next few years. Even after I graduate middle school I will never forget the good and bad memories I ever had in 7th grade.
