AP World History: Modern is an advanced level course designed to prepare students for the World History: Modern Advanced Placement exam administered by the College Board on May 12, 2022. The curriculum is from College Board's Course & Exam Description for AP World History: Modern.
This is a college-level course and will be treated as such in every respect. You and your student should be aware that college courses require more reading, writing, and analytical skills than their high school counterparts. There will be a significant amount of homework; plan your time accordingly. The homework will not take the form of "extra sheets to do" - your student will be actively engaged in their work. College classes generally require 2-3 hours of outside of class work per hour of class. Use this as a guideline, but know that much like in college, time required for homework and projects varies throughout the year.
This document provides information on the course content and skills. It is taken from the descriptions provided by College Board.
Because the workload of this course, your student must plan ahead and use their time wisely. It has always been important that your student plan time so they can complete assignments and other responsibilities, but we are in a new age of learning. Your student has electronic assignments that can usually be accessed on a mobile device in addition to a Chromebook, desktop, or other laptop.
There are many websites and videos that will help your student to learn this and to succeed not in this class but for the rest of the student's life! Please take some time to speak with your student about how they are organizing their time and help them as needed.
