DREAM THE IMPOSSIBLE -
CREATE THE IMPOSSIBLE
What would you do if you could do anything you ever wanted?
Would you climb a ladder and paint a smiley on the moon?
Nothing is impossible or off limits. You can be as creative as you can imagine. Show us what dreams are made of. Show us where you would go, what you would do. It can be fantasy, science fiction, surreal, it can be anything you want.
As always, all media and sizes are eligible for entry. A panel of volunteer students will judge the art competition and determine the winners. Bring your finished work to school and hand it in by August 26th.

Cover Art for the Yearbook
The first place went to Nayoung Lim for her digital illustration. Her artwork is split vertically into two parts, the left showing her as a young child in the Everland theme park and the right as a present day teenager. The left is also an early morning setting, the sin still rising and long shadows falling in from the left. The right part shows the tree brightly illuminated under a clear night time sky. Although it is night for her now she is looking back at her childhood, not in a nostalgic reminiscent manner, but maturely acknowledging that her past is still her present. The future is yet to be revealed and by illustrating the tree with the bright lights and warm colors, we know that her future will be as bright and joyful. Just as the sun always rises after every night, another beautiful morning will bring many more 'good old days'.
Yeonwoo created a mixed media collage showing everything that sparks joy in her heart. Seohyun created an animation and a homage to his grandfather and uploaded it to YouTube. Geurim created a lovely short animation about a bear stuck in isolation, looking out the window and waiting for Covid to go away. Hyeonseok created a webtoon about a positive and special memory the pandemic brought with itself; his family from abroad returned to Korea and they were able to have a family reunion. Jiyou Park's contribution was a joyful scene of her family watching the sunset at the seaside.
"What does your perfect summer vacation look like?"
Students had the chance to create some amazing artwork over the summer around the question stated above. Due to the pandemic, international and domestic travel has been limited and as such, many students had to stay home. With this topic I had hope to at least let their imagination travel and to express their perfect summer vacation ideas through a work of art.
