The 57 Bus is the true story of a decision that changed the lives of two teenagers forever. Although they don't know each other, Richard and Sasha ride the bus together each day. When Richard succumbs to goading from his peers to light Sasha's skirt on fire, the flames that unexpectedly erupt badly injure the young agender teen. What follows in Dashka Slater's investigation is a story of mistakes, forgiveness, and understanding that challenges us to see beyond the facts and see people as individuals.
Set in Venice, Italy of the 1500s, The Merchant of Venice tells the story of Antonio, a Christian merchant, who puts up a pound of his own flesh as collateral in a deal with Shylock, a Jewish money-lender whom he has previously abused and attacked. Bassanio, a Christian, needs the money to finance his pursuit of Portia, a young heiress living alone on the island of Belmont since her father's passing. When Antonio is unable to pay back the money by the agreed-upon date, his life is in Shylock's vengeful hands. Topics of mercy, revenge, and loyalty are explored.
