Many mornings we begin our day discussing how we are feeling using the TRIBBLES as our gauge to our emotions.
We have learned emotions come and go throughout the day and that the intensity of our emotions can also change depending on our experiences. We use our emotional thermometer to illustrate how strong our emotions are in a particular moment. We have also learned that all emotions are okay to feel and experience and that what matters most is that we are aware of our feelings, name them and learn ways to manage them.
We also engage in activities such as emotional charades to help us better understand others' emotions and realize the importance of NOT making assumptions about someone's feelings based on body gestures or facial expressions only. When we are wondering how someone is feeling it is important to ask and support them.
We are learning different strategies to help us manage and control our intense emotions and have created a list of stress busters we can make reference too when we need them.
How we view a situation can influence our future thoughts, actions and growth. In grade 3, we work on developing a "Growth Mindset vs a Fixed Mindset". We are setting individual growth mindset goals for ourselves and plan to monitor our achievement of these goals. Our classroom goal is for everyone to eventually adopt the POWER OF YET !
