Welcome to grade 3!
September Newsletter
Welcome back Mustangs! It's hard to believe the summer is actually over. I trust you are refreshed, excited and eager to begin the school year. I am thrilled to be teaching grade 3 again this year and I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I know this year will be an eventful time for us and I can't wait to get started!
At the beginning of the year, I am often asked about the types of materials students could bring to school in September. Although I have provided some commonly used classroom supplies for everyone to use and it is not a requirement for students to purchase school materials, some common items used in the classroom daily that I recommend students have are: indoor shoes, pencils, erasers, pencil crayons, scissors, metric rulers, glue stick/ bottle and kleenex.
During the first few weeks, I will be sending home a few letters to better explain common practises and expectations in our classroom. I believe consistent communication with students and family members is key for student success, therefore I will also be providing important information about classroom activities, assignments and school events via email throughout the year. Please ensure you have provided your current e-mail to the office as soon as possible, so that you are able to receive these important messages.
I realize at the beginning of the school year there may be some uncertainties, but I can assure you that I will do my very best to foster a classroom community that is accepting and supportive of all students and that will promote and nurture emotional and physical well being. If at any time during the school year you have any questions, concerns or need to share some important information with me, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. I am a true believer that we should all work together to make this the best learning experience possible for your child and I will do my best to keep the communication lines open.
I look forward to meeting all of you in the near future!
Sincerely,
Ms. Petker
