Prerequisite: (AVI2O)
Students continue to explore the technical aspects of watercolour, print making (with drypoint and intaglio), mix media, expressive self-portraits, and so much more. But, most of all students are encouraged to use their artwork as self-expression and a reflective exploration of each artist's personality and interests.
If you plan to take AVI4M, this course will better prepare you for the technical aspects of that grade 12 course.
No Prerequisites: Note that this course can not be used as a prerequisite for any of the grade 12 art classes.
This course is designed to foster students creativity in craft. We will explore a variety of craft mediums (paper, fabric, glass, upcycling...) and students are encouraged to create based upon their personal passions.
Prerequisite: (ASM3M OR AVI3M)
Students learn how to use a pinhole camera and a traditional darkroom. The history and evolution of photography is discussed, but most of all, student are provided with a variety of photography tasks that help them develop the skill of taking 'great photographs': both compositionally and technically.
If students have their own digital camera or personal 35mm SLR camera, they are encouraged to use it. However, the classroom is equipped with digital cameras, digital SLRs and 35mm cameras. You do not need your own camera to take this course.
Prerequisite: (AVI3M)
In grade 12, students are encouraged to build a body of work that reflects their artistic passions and personality. Students are encouraged to work on a larger scale, explore figurative drawing/painting and create a work in a series.
Students who have completed grade 12 Photography OR grade 12 Visual Art and desire to explore an artistic area deeper are eligible to speak to guidance, Ms. Cameron and/or Ms. Pitford about an independent course.
Space is limited & special permission is needed.
