Reading

Reading is thinking! I tell my students that their brains use several different strategies while they read. I often refer to the reading brain (Shown below) to demonstrate the reading strategies that help us comprehend what we read. During independent reading, students will practice and record these reading comprehension strategies in their reading response journals.
