The following supplies will be available to you in individual kits in art class (February 2021). These kits are already prepared for your use and when we return to school you can use them at school and store them in your individual storage space. I will have some duplicate items that you can borrow and take home for the semester if you need them at home to complete projects.
At this time we do not have permission to have you or your parents come to the school to pick up art supplies if we continue online learning. I will be communicating with you to see what supplies you have already at home before the start of the semester in order to plan for class projects for at home learning.
Below is an overview of the art kit at school. If you have any of these supplies at home, please gather them and give me feedback on the survey. I am adding a picture and sometimes a link so you can see what I am referring to.
-January, 2021
Depending on the number of days in class we will have, charcoal, printmaking and sculpture supplies may also be provided.
Watercolours can be dried pans or liquid tubes. Brushes have soft bristles.
Watercolour Paper & other art paper
Watercolour & mixed media paper does not fall apart when wet. Other art paper has a surface made for shading, charcoal, or pastel work.
4B Shading Pencil
4B pencils are much softer and darker than average pencils. As the number goes higher, the pencil is softer. For example, 8B is softer and darker than 4B.
Glue & Tape
Glue sticks, liquid glue, and masking tape are used.
Any very fine tipped marker or pen will work for home projects. Dixon Trend pens are not water proof. Some ultra fine markers are.
Sharpie, fine tip black
This type is water proof and can be used in mixed media projects.
Some available to borrow in class for students who need support with supplies.
HB or No2 Pencil
Most wooden pencils are HB pencils. No2 is another name for the same thing. Unmarked pencils are usually this type. Wood is best for shading.
Eraser
All erasers will work. The white one is usually the best. The grey one is a specialized eraser for shading.
Sketchbook
Any sketchbook will do. You can continue to use a sketchbook you have already started for other art classes or for personal drawings. Sketchbooks come in many sizes, paper colours, and paper types.
Any type will do. The one pictured is good because it fits any pencil size and keeps the shavings off your desk and projects.
