Recycling

What, and how, we recycle at our locations may be different than the municipality in which the building resides. There is an expectation that a recycling bin has been provided by the principal or manager for all classrooms, or common areas. Ordering information for recycling bins is available here.

The following items can be recycled in all TVDSB locations:

Containers: EMPTY

• Aluminum cans
• Drink boxes, tetra packs,
• Glass bottles and jars,
• Paper coffee cups, milk cartons,
• All #1-7 plastics including yogurt cups and fruit cups.

Paper products:

• Lined, coloured and plain paper,
• File folders,
• Newspapers, magazines,
• Box board and paper towel rolls.

All TVDSB buildings have been moved to single-stream recycling. This means that all recyclables (paper and containers) are placed in the same container in a classroom, or office space. The recyclables are then collected nightly by the custodial staff.

Corrugated Cardboard

All cardboard must be broken down and placed into the corrugated cardboard bulk container.

If your school does not have a bulk cardboard container, ensure it is tied into 100 cm x 100 cm x 20 cm bundles, using fibre twine, and placed neatly beside other recycling containers on pick-up day.
