MUSIC

The CECI Music Program has a long legacy in musical excellence. From the day the doors opened, music at CECI has played an important part of our students’ high school experience. Many of our students have gone on to pursue careers in music, and countless others still enjoy playing music years later. We offer courses in instrumental and vocal music. Students who enroll in the music repertoire courses (Band, Choir, and Jazz Band) receive extra credit for their involvement. We have many performance opportunities over the year for our students. We offer three main concerts, and many of our ensembles are asked to perform at various events around the city. In addition to a busy music program, we also have other musical opportunities for all students at CECI. Each year along with Student’s Council, we host Coffee House. This is an evening that showcases the diversity of talent in students at CECI. Singers, songwriters, poets, and comedians perform a wide variety of material for a sold out venue. For students looking for leadership opportunities, our grade 9 mentoring program is a good place to start. Senior students provide guidance to incoming grade 9 students through practice sessions and band help. Also, Music Council offers a chance for students to work in a collaborative environment. Students help to plan concerts, fundraising projects, and social events that are integral to CECI Music.
