1. [20pts] You are asked to do a suitability analysis to help in determining which existing assisted living facilities in Chicago are eligible for additional investment and refurbishment.  You have 3 data layers:  (i) assisted living facilities in the roi - point layer, (2) hospitals in the roi - point layer, and (3) heat index values in the roi - polygon layer.  Your task is to create a web map showing the existing assisted living facilities in Chicago that meet the following criteria:

   1. 1. 1. 1. • the facility should be located within a 5 minute drive of a hospital that serves a "General" Population (i.e. not Pediatrics or any other specialty...you want the hospital to be ready for anything) - assume this information is in the hospital attribute data

               • the facility should have the capability to house Alzheimer patients (relevant for assisted living facilities) - assume this information is in the assisted living facilities attribute data

               • the facility should be located where the heat index is 2.5 or less

               • it should be at least a 5 minute drive from any existing assisted living facilities (no closer than a 5 minute drive)

Please describe in words how you would go about doing this suitability analysis.  Please name the software you would use, the tools within that software you would use, how you would go about using these tools, and the order you would go about the analysis.

2. [20pts] Here is a geospatial ethics case study.  How should the director of the university geospatial lab respond to the LAPD's request?  Which products would be OK to provide and which ones would not?  Why?

3. [18pts] Your are tasked as a consultant on a geospatial project.  The agency you are working for requires a map of their roi that classifies (i) forests, (ii) water, (iii) grassland, (iv) sand, and (v) oil drilling pads.  The oil drilling pads measure 200m X 200m on average.  The agency can only pay for your labor so the imagery has to be free for you to make a profit.  The agency needs a map of this area once a month.  They can provide you with training data for these different land covers that they obtained via a previous contract where spectral bands were collected in the visible and NIR range.  How would you go about conducting this work?  What software applications would you use? What data source(s) would you use?  What analyses would you use? Why?  Make sure you use the words spatial resolution, temporal resolution, radiometric resolution, and spectral resolution in your answer.

4. [20pts] Look at the simple geoprocessing model below.  In words please describe what this model is designed to do.  It may be clearest to start at the left and work your way to the right describing the different processes taking place.  It is OK if you need to make a few assumptions - just state them in your answer.
