Statement of Intent:

Goodwood Marshals Club Ltd is fully committed to a high standard of Health and Safety for its members, cadets, other officials, competitors and members of the public at the motorsport events it supports. We will ensure that all appropriate risks under our control are identified and mitigated to an acceptable level. We will endeavour to ensure that those organising the events that we support have in place appropriate Health and Safety measures to protect our members.

Arrangements for Health and Safety:

In pursuance of the above Goodwood Marshals Club Ltd (GMC) will:

• only promote to our members properly organised events. These will include Motorsport UK (MSUK) permitted events, events organised under MSUK certificate of exemption and those organised by Goodwood Motor Circuit.

• engage with organising clubs and Goodwood Motor Circuit to ensure that their Health, Safety and Welfare standards and practices meet with this policy.

• comply with applicable Health and Safety Legislation and MSUK policies.

• complete risk assessments to cover those activities we are responsible for and distribute a GMC Safety Manual giving safety advice to our members

• ensure all our volunteering or officiating at events are registered as MSUK marshals and officials and that appropriate training is provided for tasks undertaken. This will include MSUK online training, annual practical training and on post training.

• ensure all new or inexperienced marshals are teamed up with experienced marshals on post.

• implement a Safeguarding Policy in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults

• provide communication on Health and Safety matters including as appropriate pre event details and briefings, briefings at event from Chief Marshal, Post Chiefs and Event Organisers.

• sharing this policy with its members, Event Organisers, Goodwood Motor Circuit and publisher on our website.

• ensure that our members are aware their responsibility for their Health and Safety as well as that of their fellow members.

This policy will be reviewed annually by Goodwood Marshals Club Ltd Directors.
