I believe reliable and valid data needs to be at the center of discussions and efforts regarding these issues. My view is to develop good community partnerships, look at the facts, and do the right thing.
Yes, and the school district collects data regularly and it would be a benefit to find a way to cross reference data the schools collect if it can be of benefit to understanding students, teachers, and how we can efficiently address issues within our school community.
I believe this type of data is important and should be collected, analyzed and used when making policy decisions or when allocating governmental and philanthropic resources. However, I have concerns regarding the school district’s ability to collect such data in ways that do not create actual or perceived violations of student privacy and/or alienate families with culturally or experientially ingrained negative associations with being “tracked” by governmental agencies. Our schools must not erect barriers to educational participation and family engagement in our efforts to see other issues addressed.
Yes, as long as I know that collecting this data doesn't violate privacy and serves students' best interests.
I can advocate for this before board and district leadership, but I need to defer to their decisions on where the school district allocates its limited attention and resources.
I would be open to this. I would need more specific information as it would relate to human resources of the district.
