Environment and Community Awareness

Keeping in accordance with the Alberta Program of Studies, our aim is to help children use their five senses to explore, investigate and describe their environment and community. They would recognize similarities and differences in living things, objects and materials. They would also become aware of the relationship between cause and effect and generate ideas to make personal sense of the environment. Children explore familiar places and things in the environment and community. They role-play familiar home and community situations and activities. They identify familiar shapes, symbols and sounds and recognize seasonal changes in their environment and community. They recognize familiar animals in their surroundings.

Our kindergartners will be using their five senses to explore and investigate their environment. We will go for nature walks and have an inquiry topic for observation and data collection. We will be discussing how scientists explore something by asking asking questions and making predictions. We will then record our observations and make conclusions.
