BOSS Parents and Students,

Welcome back to school and thank you for choosing the Buckeye Online School for Success for your child’s education! If you are new to BOSS, we understand that the transition to online education can feel overwhelming. We hope to make this transition for you and your child as smooth as possible. You will be experts before you know it!

Canvas is our learning management system (LMS). This is where your classes are accessed and where the majority of your school work will be completed. BOSS is excited to be utilizing Class for a superior virtual classroom experience. Each course has its own specific Class virtual classroom, and they are accessed through the class Canvas page.

ParentSquare is BOSS’s primary tool for communication. ParentSquare allows teachers and administrators to post announcements, send emergency notifications, and text directly with parents. Parents can also send text communication directly to teachers through the ParentSquare app. We strongly encourage parents to download the ParentSquare app and register upon enrolling their children at BOSS.

Class attendance is mandatory at BOSS. BOSS operates on a daily bell schedule with classes occurring between 8:15am and 3:15pm. Students are expected to attend all of their classes with their cameras on and ready to engage in learning Monday through Friday. Every class period is a learning opportunity; missing these opportunities will have an adverse effect on academic success.

Dear New Families,

On behalf of the entire BOSS community, I am thrilled to welcome you and your family! We are excited to embark on this educational journey together, and we are committed to providing you with an enriching and supportive virtual learning experience. 

As Superintendent, I am deeply passionate about ensuring that every student receives a high-quality education that prepares them for success in an ever-changing world. In this digital age, virtual learning offers opportunities for educational growth like never before.

While the virtual learning environment may be new to some of you, rest assured that our dedicated team of educators is here to guide and support you every step of the way. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities of virtual learning, and we are committed to fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration among students, families, and staff.

As we embark on this journey together, I want to emphasize the importance of a few key components of our virtual school experience:

1. State Testing: State assessments are vital for measuring student progress and ensuring accountability. State testing is mandatory each spring for students in

grades 3-8 and high school students enrolled in classes with end-of-course exams. We strongly encourage all students to participate in state testing to

assess their academic growth and inform instructional practices accurately. 

2. Daily Online Attendance: Regular attendance is crucial for student success in virtual learning. By logging in daily and actively participating in class activities,

students will maximize their learning opportunities and stay connected with their peers and teachers.

3. Student Engagement: Engaged learners are successful learners. We encourage students to actively participate in discussions, complete assignments

with enthusiasm, and take ownership of their learning journey.

4. Parent Access Account: Parents play a pivotal role in supporting their child's education. Our Parent Access account provides you with a convenient platform

to stay informed about your child's academic progress, view grades, and access report cards. We encourage you to utilize this valuable resource to stay involved

in your child's education journey.
