Our laboratory conducts two major activities.
1．Lab Seminar (every Friday afternoon)
We meet every Friday for student research progress reports and literature readings. The latter we are trying what are called “classics” in economics.
*An independent seminar Karl Marx's “Capital” is held by students every two weeks; reading in Japanese as well as in English.
2．Field Work
In our laboratory, we prioritize fieldwork going out to rural areas. For surveys, we recruit members to form groups, hold study meetings in advance, and conduct surveys with each member having an awareness of the issues involved. In recent years, we have conducted research in Inadani, Nagano Prefecture, the islands of Okinawa Prefecture, the Tsugaru region of Aomori Prefecture, and Indonesia.
Literature reading is the theory, fieldwork is the reality, and research is the junction of the two.
