International Dot Day
Second Grade celebrated Dot Day by showing off their creative side!
We took ordinary dots and turned them into something fun!
Some of our creations included emojis, the sun, baseballs, pumpkins, pigs, and so much more!
OCTOBER
Dia de los Muertos
Day of the Dead is NOT a sad day. It is a celebration!
Families celebrate this joyous holiday November 1st and 2nd.
Together, they create an ofrenda to honor their loved ones, and welcome them to visit.

The Truth About Turkeys
Did you know...
Wild turkeys can weigh up to 19 pounds?
Female turkeys cluck, while male turkeys gobble?
Turkeys sleep in nests?
Now you do!
DECEMBER
We read the fun story, How to Catch a Gingerbread Man by Adam Wallace & Andy Elkerton. Then we drew our own gingerbread and gave them a little bio!
January
Wilson Alwyn Bentley, also known as Snowflake Bentley, was an American meteorologist and photographer, who was the first known person to take detailed photographs of snowflakes and record their features.
After hearing his story, classes cut their own unique designs to be displayed!

Lunar New Year starts on February 10th!
2024 is the Year of the Dragon
March
Huge thank you to our PTA!
The library received a HUGE donation of books that our students are so excited about!
March is Women's History Month!
First grade watched an animated story about Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina woman astronaut to go to space!
Want to know what made this story extra cool?
It was in English AND Spanish!
This bilingual story brought first grade on a tour through the planets.
APRIL
On April 8th there will be a solar eclipse!
We got ready by reading Eclipse by Andy Rash, which takes us through the journey of a father and son preparing to watch a total solar eclipse. Then we drew out own and got to see exactly how the eclipse works!
Long Island will be able to view the eclipse starting at 2:12 pm and it will end at 4:37pm
4th graders worked hard to express themselves in Google Slides!
All of 4th grade was challenged to create an alphabet about themselves and then convert it to a digital poster! They were responsible for coming up with something about themselves for each letter, and then for changing their fonts, adding pictures, and really making it there own!
