We got the library ready for Halloween by decorating trick-or-treat bags and reading fun stories!
We read Dia de los Muertos to learn about the Mexican holiday and really enjoyed learning about the traditions!

This month the 4th and 5th grade classes learned how they can access eBooks! Students login using Clever and then can read eBooks or listen to audio books. They also have the option to browse the eBooks from the Sachem Public Library!
Turkey Trouble
After listening to the story by Wendi J Silvano our friends worked hard to give Turkey a costume that would keep him safe!
Our upper grades have starting practicing their typing skills using Learning.com
After reading Penguin Problems by Jory John, we talked about the message of the story. This SEL story helped us understand that everyone faces challenges, but it is so nice when we can look on the bright side!

Hiawatha celebrated P.S. I Love You Day school wide!
Every class made their own heart to display outside their classroom, and each day had different spirit wear, to help us show our support and love for each other.

We started getting into the summer mood with bilingual story!
We used our context clues to help us figure out what the Spanish words meant, compared Paletero Jose to our local ice cream man, and created our own ideal paleta flavors!
Summer Reading Bingo Boards!
The public library has launched their summer reading program, so to help us stay motivated, we made our own summer reading bingo boards!
Some ideas we added were to read a book from a series, read a book that has more than 100 pages, read with a flashlight, read a book that was turned into a movie, listen to an audio book in the car, and so much more!
