Sora by OverDrive

This month the 4th and 5th grade classes learned how they can access eBooks! Students login using Clever and then can read eBooks or listen to audio books.  They also have the option to browse the eBooks from the Sachem Public Library!

After listening to the story by Wendi J Silvano our friends worked hard to give Turkey a costume that would keep him safe!

Our upper grades have starting practicing their typing skills using Learning.com

After reading Penguin Problems by Jory John, we talked about the message of the story.  This SEL story helped us understand that everyone faces challenges, but it is so nice when we can look on the bright side!

To welcome in the New Year we set goals for ourselves and displayed them in the library windows!

P.S. I Love You Day

Hiawatha celebrated P.S. I Love You Day school wide!

Every class made their own heart to display outside their classroom, and each day had different spirit wear, to help us show our support and love for each other.

Field Trip!

Some of our classes enjoyed a virtual field trip to SeaQuest!

We met Flash the Sloth and learned about what he eats, where he lives, and how he sleeps!

We celebrated Poetry Month by venturing outside, engaging our senses, and writing our own nature poems

Our kindergarten classes are busy getting ready for first grade!

They practiced a first grade skill, sequencing, with Their Was An Old mermaid Who Swallowed A Shark

Paletas for one! Paletas for all!

We started getting into the summer mood with bilingual story!

We used our context clues to help us figure out what the Spanish words meant, compared Paletero Jose to our local ice cream man, and created our own ideal paleta flavors!

Summer Reading Bingo Boards!

The public library has launched their summer reading program, so to help us stay motivated, we made our own summer reading bingo boards!

Some ideas we added were to read a book from a series, read a book that has more than 100 pages, read with a flashlight, read a book that was turned into a movie, listen to an audio book in the car, and so much more!
