SEPTEMBER

To get our year started, we read I Promise by LeBron James.  This book helps us remember that the most important promises we make are to ourselves.  After reading the story we each made our own promise! Some examples were:

I promise to do my best

I promise to keep an open mind

I promise to always be kind

I promise to help others

OCTOBER

We kicked off October with Ghost Afraid of the Dark.

Poor Boo is afraid of the dark, but overcomes his fear, thanks to his friends!

We tested our memory by matching the characters to their quote from the story.

NOVEMBER

1st grade read I'm NOT Just A Scribble by Diane Alber and talked about how Scribble is perfect just the way he is.

His colors might make him different from the other drawings, but his colors are what make him so special!

DECEMBER

While our students are celebrating various holidays, we read The Little Book of Giving to remember what is really important.  We talked about the various gifts we can give that don't cost any money, because they come from the heart.  Our students chose to give gifts like friendship, love, gratitude, honesty, and kindness.
