What is considered recent?
Bitewing X-Rays (aka BWX, 4 films) taken in last 18 months (January 2020)
Most offices will take a set of "bitewings", with 2 x-rays on each side of your mouth on an annual basis.
Full Mouth X-Ray (aka FMX, 18-20 films) taken in the last 3 years (July 2018)
Most offices will take a full mouth x-ray series (18 to 20 films) every 3 to 5 years.
Other dental x-rays, including Periapicals, Cephalometric, Panoramic, etc.: Please inform me the type and month/year taken so I may consult with my faculty to determine what is recommended.
If you do not have a current dentist:
A) Recent x-rays & no dentist: forward them to our me/school clinic (inquire for e-mail) or have a printed copy from your previous dentist.
B) No recent x-rays & no dentist: I will have a form for you to fill out to consent to an updated set during your initial visit. Our supervising dentist will sign/approve it based on your x-ray history.
If you have a current dentist:
C) Recent x-rays & have current dentist: forward them to our me/school clinic (inquire for e-mail) or have a printed copy from your current dentist.
D) Need updated x-rays & have current dentist: your dentist needs to sign a prescription (with letterhead) and have them e-mail it to our clinic office. You can also bring one with you to your 1st appointment. Examples are provided below.
Please let me know if A, B, C, or D applies to you so I can better plan for your 1st visit.
