Hi! If you've stumbled across my website from an old post-- thanks for stopping by! I've now graduated. If you are still interested in low-cost dental cleanings, please reach out to me at conniedentalcleaning@gmail.com and I can refer you to current students in the dental hygiene program who would greatly appreciate your support.

Your First Visit

A dental assessment and recent dental x-rays are required before dental cleaning treatment. All appointments are 3 hours long as we are in an educational/learning setting where work is checked and evaluated by faculty. If you have been to our clinic before, a new assessment is required if it has been over a year since your last visit. You must bring your unexpired rescue inhaler if you have asthma or have been prescribed one within the past year. Please visit the Appointment Guide for details on what to bring, where to park, etc.

At every visit, we perform the following:

  1. HEALTH HISTORY REVIEW - please bring a list of your medications and dosages

  • We need to review your health history to know if we need to make any modifications to your dental hygiene treatment to ensure you have a safe experience. Certain medical conditions may require a medical clearance from your physician/primary care provider: More Information

  1. VITAL SIGNS

    • Temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and breathing rate are recorded at each visit

  2. ORAL CANCER SCREENING (Extraoral and Intraoral exam, aka "E&I exam")

    • We perform this brief exam at each visit to check for any changes.

The following portion is part of the DENTAL ASSESSMENT.

  1. DENTAL CHECK-UP / EXAM

      • We check for cavities clinically and on the x-rays. A supervising dentist is present to confirm our findings. If there is a significantly large cavity or infection on a tooth we cannot perform treatment on the quadrant (upper right/left or lower right/left) until you can have the tooth treated.

  2. DENTAL X-RAYS

      • Please refer to the bottom of the page for more information. If you have a set from within the past three years you can bring a copy.

  3. PERIODONTAL/GUM EXAM

      • We measure the space between your gums and teeth to establish a baseline for your periodontal health.

  4. TREATMENT PLANNING

      • We check for your level of calculus (tartar) and determine if you are a candidate for a regular or deep cleaning.
