Creating your own Social Stories can be a daunting endveour but once you get started you'll see that its not as difficult as it seems! Sometimes its much quicker to create your own rather than find one that suits your needs as you can spend A LOT of time searching through internet sites and still come up empty handed.
As a general rule these are the steps I follow when creating my own stories:
Research - figure out exactly what the goal of the story is. Talk to parents, support staff and the student to find out more information. Look for ideas from stories others have published. Decide if you are going to adhere to Carol Grey's Social Stories or create a personalized one.
Create the text for the story.
Format text (size, colour, positioning, font, etc.)
Add pictures.
Publish the story (print or digital format)
