Learning French begins with oral language. Students will learn to communicate orally with the teacher and with each other before beginning to read or write. After developing oral communication, students begin reading followed by writing. Once this literacy cycle is complete, it begins again with a new oral structure.
Students will learn to express themselves, share their opinions and views, and make observations about the people, places and environment around them. It is important that students are speaking about what is authentic to them, not just repeating back what the teacher says
