Information on coaching in HRCE can be found on the Teaching and Learning Website
Student centered coaching focuses on student learning and outcomes. Together the teacher and coach come up with goals to help the teacher improve student achievement. A coach is not there to evaluate the teacher or tell them what they are doing wrong. Rather, they are there to work alongside the teacher to help them further develop their practice.
Having a coach doesn't mean your not good at your job. Lots of teachers request coaching for different reasons. You might want a coach because...
You are a new teacher and would like some guidance
You are teaching a new subject or grade
You would like to try something new or learn ways to mix things up in the classroom
Whether you are a new teacher or someone who has been teacher for years, a coach can help you with what you and your students need. Coaches can be requested through your administration.
