The CORE Phonics Survey measures a student's ability to recognize letter names, produce letter sounds, and decode words, focusing on phonics and related skills needed for early reading development. It identifies opportunities for development in a student's understanding of phonetic patterns. This helps support teachers target instruction to the students' needs and plan for small group instruction.
Progress monitoring can be done between UFLI lessons to assess student progress. The information gathered from this assessment can be used to guide small-group instruction.
