🎃 October 30 – Halloween Dress-Up Day
We are excited to celebrate Halloween at CDS! Students are invited to wear Halloween colours or come to school in a costume. Please remember that masks and any accessories that resemble weapons should be left at home.
As we enjoy our dress-up day, please remember that CDS is a scent-free school. This includes hairspray and other scented hair products, which can trigger severe allergic reactions for some of our staff. We ask that students avoid using scented products when getting ready for school.
Thank you for helping us keep CDS a safe and comfortable place for everyone! 🎃
November 9 – Remembrance Day Ceremony
Our school Remembrance Day Ceremony will take place on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. All families and community members are welcome to join us.
Each year, we create a slideshow honouring the family members of CDS students and staff who have served in the military or armed forces. If you would like to have a family member included, please email a photo along with their name, title or rank, and their connection to a CDS student.
Please send all photos and information to Mrs. Willman at mwillman@ssrce.ca by Friday, November 6, at 8:00 a.m. to allow time for the slideshow to be updated.
If you have submitted a photo in previous years, there is no need to send it again.

WE HAD A GREAT START TO THE SCHOOL YEAR AND ENJOYED A WONDERFUL
SEPTEMBER AT CDS! WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER BUSY AND
EXCITING MONTH AHEAD. THIS OCTOBER, WE HAVE LOTS HAPPENING AT SCHOOL, INCLUDING FIRE PREVENTION ACTIVITIES, CELEBRATING MI’KMAW HISTORY MONTH-“NEPISULTI’K — WE ARE HEALING,” AND SOME FUN HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS.
ONE THING WE HAVE NOTICED RECENTLY IS AN INCREASE IN STUDENTS
ARRIVING AFTER THE BELL. OUR SCHOOL DAY BEGINS AT 8:00 A.M., AND
LEARNING STARTS RIGHT AWAY. WHEN STUDENTS ARRIVE LATE, IT CAN MEAN
MISSING IMPORTANT LEARNING TIME AND CAN MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR
THEM TO GET SETTLED INTO THEIR DAY.
PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO HAVE YOUR CHILD AT SCHOOL AND READY TO
BEGIN THE DAY ON TIME. IF YOUR FAMILY NEEDS SUPPORT WITH GETTING TO
SCHOOL ON TIME, PLEASE REACH OUT TO US—WE ARE HAPPY TO HELP WHERE WE
CAN.
