3. New business
· Welcome new members- Robyn
· School code of conduct- New code of conduct with matrix and restoration ensures consistency. The entire province is dealing with incidents the same way.
· School Lunch Program- positive feedback from students so far.
· Sports- Volleyball is coming to an end. Basketball is beginning. Looking for a volunteer to coach a second team. Possible soccer rec program “Skills and Drills” during the winter. Danny/Ainsley tournament possibly last week before Christmas break. Dec 18/19.
· Attendance Support- No student attendance worker at this time.
· Social worker- No social worker at this time. We can reach out to schools plus as long as we have parental consent.
· Cleaning- Not at full capacity for cleaning staff. H&S and SAC wrote letters of concern. Operations visited the school and is addressing issues.
· Education Minister Visit-Brendan McGuire came on Nov 7, he visited the 3 schools NOS with Diane Timmons.
· School Events- Students went to ski Cape Smokey to meet Screaming Eagles. Skating in Cheticamp.
· School spirit- Exploring ideas to boost school spirit.
· Snow School Program with Cape Smokey ski hill- Offer similar to last year, 3 days of lessons and season pass included in program.
· Funding- grants for Food Forest, Nourish NS for Hydroponics for indoor growing system, Health and Wellness Grant awarded. H&S awarded a grant to create a cozy corner in the school. Jackie and Taylor got a grant to do a bread making program, using kitchen aid mixers that were purchased. Grant was awarded for the Youth Health summit last year. Healthy Promoting schools grant awarded to pay for field trips.
· Innovation Grant-Will be used for the ground work for the outdoor Volleyball court.
· Annual SAC conference- Nov. 28 in Halifax-Naomi and Heather will attend and present the vision for the outdoor volleyball court.
· Mary Barker Foundation-asked for a “wish list” with what is needed for all the different sports equipment.
· Fundraising- Community feedback: suggestion each sports team can do 1 fundraiser per year. Each child should only have 20 tickets. All funds must be used by the end of the year they were earned.
4. Rebranding Logo/Mascot: Current mascot was decided by students. School colours are Red, Blue and white. Phase out white uniforms and only use for accent colours/lettering. RCE will need input to redo the sign on the building.
