School Information
All students are covered by the SIP (School Insurance Program). If you are involved in sports, you may want to purchase extra coverage (Gold Plan) for an excellent rate. For information go to www.sip.ca or follow the link on our website.
School cancellations will be posted on the CBVRCE website and announced on radio stations. If school is cancelled, it will be the scheduled day on the school calendar when students return. For example, if school is cancelled on Day 2, when students return the next day, it will be Day 3.
School doors are locked during the school day. Any school visitors must report directly to the office to sign in and obtain a visitors pass.
No smoking or vaping on school property.
Students should not travel in other students’ vehicles. Administration should be contacted if students are being given parental permission for this arrangement.
Students should not leave school property without having parental permission. Administration should be notified by parents if students are leaving, and students should sign in at the office.
No food or drinks in the classroom except water. Students are encouraged to carry their own water bottles to all classes, especially gym class.
Chromebooks are for educational use. Please make sure your chromebook is charged and brought to school everyday.
Please pay your student fee $27 ($11 for additional family members). Student fees cover locker and lock rentals, student computer use, paper, ink, and a variety of presentations and events for students throughout the year. Sports fees-$26.25 per sport. ($11 for additional family members)
If anyone finds Cabot books at home from previous years, please bring them to the office, we would love to have them back as they are very expensive.
Use of various types of communications technology devices in the school environment are only permitted for instructional purposes under the supervision of a teacher, or as directed by school administration.
A student who has a matter that requires contacting a parent may do so using a cell phone in the front foyer/lobby, using the school pay phone, or in special circumstances requesting to use the office phone. Should a parent need to reach a student in the event of an emergency, he/she can call the school and school personnel will attend to the matter.
Using a communications technology device to violate the privacy of another person will result in disciplinary action by school administration. Technology with photo and video recording capabilities should not be misused at any time, inside the school, outside on school property, on school trips, or on school busses.
Using communication technology devices for the purpose of cyber-bullying is not permitted at any time.
During school events, the school requests that all school members respect the privacy of our students. Do not post pictures or video recordings of these events without the permission of the parents of students involved. Yearbook committee members will be permitted to take pictures of school events for publication in our yearbook.
Students who need to travel on another bus for child care or work must fill out an alternate bussing form. Students are not permitted to get on another bus unless an alternate bussing form has been submitted and approved by the transportation department.
Anaphylaxis – Protecting our Students and Staff!
There are students and staff who attend our school who have Anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is a severe sensitivity to certain substances which can trigger an allergic reaction causing a severe breathing emergency. Death can occur within minutes of ingestion of the allergen. Things that can trigger anaphylactic shock and that are dangerous to certain students and staff are scented products/chemicals, peanuts, peanut products, nuts, nut products, shellfish, bee stings, wasp stings, latex, and some medications.
