Dear Parents/Guardians,
On behalf of the staff and administration, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Cabot Education Centre. I hope everyone has enjoyed the first few days of the new school year and I hope that your child is settling in well.
While this letter serves as an introduction to start the year, we encourage you to check both the CEC webpage and the CEC Facebook page regularly for updates, important dates, meetings, and announcements throughout the school year.
I look forward to working closely with families to ensure our students reach their highest potential. At CEC, we recognize that success comes from the support of both home and school. As partners, we share the responsibility for your child’s success, and we will do everything we can to help make this a positive and productive year.
To support your child’s learning, we kindly ask that you encourage them to:
Attend school daily and arrive on time (Between 8:50 and 9:10).
Come to school prepared to engage in learning opportunities.
Get adequate rest to be ready for the school day.
Share with you if they need additional support in any subject or area.
Talk about their school experiences with you to keep you connected to their learning.
We also ask that parents and guardians:
Attend school activities and parent-teacher conferences.
Communicate with teachers and administration if you have questions or concerns.
Support and respect the policies and procedures of CEC, the CBVRCE, and the Provincial Code of Conduct.
We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to the many opportunities it will bring for learning, growth, and community. Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to make this school year a successful one.
Sincerely,
Heather MacIsaac

Welcome to a new and exciting school year. Here is some important information to get your year off to a good start.
Anaphylaxis-Protecting our Students and Staff
There are students and staff who attend our school who have Anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is a severe sensitivity to certain substances which can trigger an allergic reaction causing a severe breathing emergency. Death can occur within minutes of ingestion of the allergen. Things that trigger anaphylactic shock and that are dangerous to individuals include : scented products/chemicals, peanuts, peanut products, nuts, nut products, shellfish, bee stings, wasp stings, latex and some medications. The use of scented products in our school is strictly prohibited.
Attendance
This policy recognizes that regular school attendance supports greater student success and achievement. Attendance supports student learning and promotes a sense of responsibility that students will need as they transition from the school system to post-secondary studies and/or the workforce. Promoting and supporting regular student attendance is a shared responsibility. All partners, including students, parents/guardians, teachers, principals, Regional Centres for Education (RCEs), the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP), and community partners, must work together.
Please pay close attention to section 5.4 of the Attendance Policy, “Loss of Credit for Grades 10 to 12”. To earn a course credit in high school, students are expected to be present for at least 80 percent of class time. A teacher can recommend loss of credit when a student has missed 20 percent of class time due to any absences, and strong efforts have been made to improve the student’s attendance, but no improvement has been demonstrated by the student. Upon receiving the recommendation of a teacher, and working in consultation with the teacher and other school staff as appropriate, the principal will make the final decision regarding loss of credit. The principal is responsible for communicating the decision to the student and family. Students who lose credit(s) due to absenteeism are not eligible for credit recovery for that course.
