This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources, but instead recognized Mi’kmaw and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.”

Definitions:
Mi’kma’ki – Ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq People (NS, NB, PEI, Gaspe of Quebec)
Wolastoqiyik – “People of the beautiful river” Indigenous Peoples living along the St. John River (NB)
Unceded – Never surrendered, unyielded. Refers to land and resources in the acknowledgement.
Treaty – A formally concluded and ratified agreement between nations.

Elementary
Elementary Grades 3 – 6 Choir will be starting up again on Wednesdays during lunch playtime. Our first practice will be on Wednesday, October 8th 11:50am - 12:10pm for Grades 3 - 6 students who like singing. All Grade 3 - 6 students are welcome to join by going to the music room for practice on Wednesday. We have five practices before our first performance.
Junior High
Grade 7 Band There is an after school sectional for Grade 7 woodwinds (flutes, clarinets and alto saxophones) on Monday, October 6th until 4:10pm.
Stage Band Reminder of stage band practice before school at 8am on Tuesday, October 7th.
