School Dance

School Dances:

Most of the dances at BCS are for Jr. High students (Gr. 7-9).  We welcome all students and remind them that, when/if they come, the same expectations for behaviour during the school day are also in effect during the dance and if not followed, school discipline may result. To attend dances, the following expectations apply:

1) We hold our dances, unless otherwise announced, on Thursday evenings from 7-9:30pm. Students MUST be picked up at 9:30, promptly following the end of the dance. If students are not picked up on time, they may not be eligible for the next dance.

2) You must be a student in good standing academically, with good behaviour and consistent attendance. Poor attendance, behaviour or academic performance may prevent students from being able to attend dances.

3) Along with good attendance, you must be at school on the day of the dance.

4) You cannot have a suspension between dances. A suspension results in the loss of the next dance (this includes the closing dance). After a dance, suspensions reset and students would be eligible for the following dance.

5) Students can sign in students from other schools/homeschools. Students above grade 9 (10 and up) or below grade 7 (P-6) are not eligible to be invited. A sign-up list goes up before the dance and is taken down a few days prior to the dance. The principal will call the administration or the homeschool the student to check if they are in good standing and eligible to attend the dance.

6) Students who are signed in to the dance and are approved by the administration are only allowed to come to the dance if the student signing them in is present at the dance.  That student cannot come until their sponsor is there. If the BCS student signing in does not show, then that student cannot come into the dance.

7) If you leave the dance early, you are not eligible to come back in. Students are not allowed to hang out outside during the dance. School staff will call home to notify the family that the student has left. This includes students' guests.

8) Parents are not allowed to attend the dance unless asked by the school staff.
