Elementary Music News
Welcome back Bayview students and families. I am looking forward to another year of music-making with you in the Bayview Music Department. I hope we can have a fun, engaging and creative year together through singing, moving, playing, listening to and making music.
Elementary Choir
Bayview Elementary Choir is an opportunity for grade three through six students to sing as part of a school choir. We will rehearse once a week allowing students to develop musicianship through singing, build team working skills by contributing to a large group, and perform for various concerts and assemblies.
Students will have the opportunity to join choir leading up to each of the different performances we do throughout the year. These performances include the Remembrance Day Ceremony, Reindeer Run and/or Caroling, Winter Concert and Spring Concert.
Concerts and Performance
Through preparing for and participating in our Elementary Winter and Spring Concerts, students from Pre-Primary to Grade Six have the chance to collaborate on a common goal. While not all students like the spotlight, the energy, enthusiasm and joy these events bring to community is abundant.
All elementary classes will be preparing for, and participating in, a concert that will take place in December, as well as a Spring Concert.
Tentative Elementary Concert Dates:
Winter Concert → December 9 & 10th, 2025 at 6:30pm (Storm Date December 16th)
Spring Concert → May 26th & 27th, 2026 at 6:30pm

Bayview Band News
Welcome back Bayview Band Bobcats. I am looking forward to making music with you again this year.
Miss a class, see what you missed by visiting Ms. Sheffield’s Music Page.
Materials Needed
Band students will be provided with an instrument to use at school. This instrument can travel back and forth from school once an instrument contract (see below) is signed and returned. Band students need to also bring their Chromebooks and a pencil with them to each class. In alignment with the Provincial Cell Phone Directive, there are to be no cell phones brought to band class at any time.
Instrument contracts will be sent home with Grade 7 students during their first music class and fees can be paid with cash, a check payable to “Bayview Community School,” or through SchoolCash (the same platform you can place cafeteria orders through).
Concerts and Performance
Band classes prepare for and perform in two annual concerts, one in early December and another in late May. All band students are expected to attend these concerts as they all play an important musical role in the pieces they will be presenting. I hope to have as many band students as possible perform at community events, such as Bayboo and the Reindeer Run.
Winter Concert → Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 7pm (Storm Date December 16th)
Spring Concert → Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 7pm
