This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources, but instead recognized Mi’kmaw and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.”

Wolastoqiyik – Woolastuk
Definitions:
Mi’kma’ki – Ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq People (NS, NB, PEI, Gaspe of Quebec)
Wolastoqiyik – “People of the beautiful river” Indigenous Peoples living along the St. John River (NB)
Unceded – Never surrendered, unyielded. Refers to land and resources in the acknowledgement.
Treaty – A formally concluded and ratified agreement between nations.

Ski Trips: There will be a MUST ATTEND information meeting for ALL GRADES 7 – 9 students interested in attending ski trips this winter. This meeting will take place on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12th in Ms. RC’s room at LUNCH AT 1:40 pm. Students can go have their lunch first and then go up to Ms. RC’s room at 1:40 pm
Jr. High Holiday Dance: There will be a jr high holiday dance next Thursday, December 18 from 7:00-9:30pm. The cost to attend is $8. The song request list and guest list are now posted by the jr. high calendar. If you'd like to sign in a student from another school, they must be in grades 7, 8 or 9. The guest list will be taken down at the end of the day next Tuesday.

· Bridgewater foodbank open Tuesdays and Fridays 1-3:30pm
· Liverpool food is open as normal (Tuesdays 10-1)
· Mahone Bay Food Bank (2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 9:00-11:00)
