Library Reading “Session on Management e-resources available in DELNET”, was held on November 17, 2021. It is a part of our Monthly Activity DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) Initiative. DELNET has been established with the prime objective of promoting resource sharing among the libraries through the development of a network of libraries. It aims to collect, store and disseminate information besides offering computerized services to users, to coordinate efforts for suitable collection development.

MMS Students were given an Online Library and NDLI Orientation by Prof. Dr. Kuljeet G. Kahlon on October 6, 2021 from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm, on Google Meet. She gave a PowerPoint Presentation by introducing the Library Team, explaining the rules and regulations of the Library, Issue-Return, Library Website and Library App, etc. She also demonstrated online how to use ProQuest and DELNET Databases and the resources available on GNIMS Library Website.

NATIONAL DIGITAL LIBRARY OF INDIA AWARENESS SESSION

Students were given an Online National Digital Library of India Awareness Session by Prof. Dr. Kuljeet G. Kahlon on September 30, 2021 from 12.00 pm – 01.00 pm, on Google Meet.

She practically presented the NDLI website, explaining in detail the resources available therein. She also explained the importance of the NDLI Club in the Institute and why it is essential to become members of the NDLI.

Reading Quiz: - SGPC’S Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai organized a Quiz on Mr. Azim Premji as a part of our DEAR (Drop everything and Read) Initiative. This eventhood place on July 15, 2021. This quiz is free, and participants will get e-certificate if they score above 90%.

GNIMS Library had conducted online the NDLI Club Awareness Program for the registered Members MMS students, faculty and staff on March 30, 2021. Dr. Kuljeet G. Kahlon, Library Manager gave a Power Point Presentation to the students explaining the usefulness of The National Digital Library of India. She explained about the various methods of searching the resources, how many resources are available, etc.

Mr. Prahlad Jadhav, Associate Director, (Library), Khaitan & Co. Mumbai gave an interesting session on e-content management on July 29, 2020. BKC Knowledge Network and GNIMS Business School, Mumbai jointly organized this online informative webinar. A total of 170 library professionals from all over India attended the webinar.

Webinar on Author Outreach Program by Eminent Author Mr. Harsh Pamnani.

This webinar was conducted on May 31, 2020 from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm through Zoom Online Platform. This webinar was jointly organized by The Center of Excellence in Marketing and GNIMS

Library. Eminent Author Mr. Harsh Pamnani, Author of Booming Brands shared an insight into

his new book and throw light on how brands are created. At present his book is trending at

Number 1 Spot on Amazon. There were total 250 participants who attended this webinar.

Session on using GNIMS Library App for Referring Online Internship Projects.

This online session was conducted by Dr. Kuljeet G. Kahlon on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm for students of MMS (B).

The highlight of this session was on how to use the GNIMS Library App for referring to the previous summer internship projects. This session helped students in preparing their summer internship projects. 35 students participated in this Session.

ProQuest Webinar on ABI/INFORM Global and its Best Practices for GNIMS Library Users.

This webinar was conducted on Wednesday, April 28, 2020 from 11 am to 12 Noon through WebEx Meet Online Platform. This webinar emphasized on ProQuest Database and its Best Practices to facilitate Research, Teaching, and Learning Activity. The Resource Person was Mr. Srijith Sasidharan, Trainer, ProQuest Database. 355 participants attended this webinar. Some take ways from this session by the user: • It was a wonderful session and got some good idea to use ProQuest. This was our first event. It gave us more learning in terms of the valuable feedback received from the participants. Certificates were given to all the participants. We gathered more knowledge about the online learning platform for the various events.

Webinar on How to Use Turnitin Software for Your Research in Lockdown Period.

This webinar was conducted on May 4, 2020 from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm through Zoom Online Platform. More emphasis was on Identifying unoriginal content with the world’s most effective plagiarism detection solution. Manage potential academic misconduct by highlighting similarities to the world’s largest collection of internets, academic, and student’s paper content. Resource Person was Mr. Sarthak Dangayach from Turnitin India Education Pvt. Ltd. There were total 4500+ participants who attended this webinar.

Library Seminar : Transforming Use of Digital Resources : Perspective of Library Users. Database Venders and Librarians

March 2, 2019 - SGPC’s GNIMS Business School Library and BKC Knowledge Network jointly organized Seminar on the Theme “Transforming Use of Digital Resources: Perspective of Library Users, Database Vendors and Librarians”.

The Chief Guest was Sardar Satinderpal Singh Ji Ahuja, Honorary Consul of Georgia in the Republic of India and Chairman, G. N. Khalsa College Alumni Association. Keynote speaker was Ms. Poonam Karir Kanwal, co- Entrepreneurs Founder and Director Bindass Party.com.

The objective of the Seminar was relevant to the present scenario. E-resources have been there for many years but not used to its potential. The Seminar discussed the challenges faced and to understand the perspectives of the Librarians, Database Vendors and the Users on a single platform.

Book Reviews Competition

GNIMS Library organized a Book Review Competition for PGDM Students on March 24, 2018. They were asked to write a two-page review of the book and were given 5 minutes to present their review.

The evaluator for the book review were Dr. Sameer Phanse, Associate Professor, GNIMS and Mr. Rushin Vadhani, A great Book Lover and our Alumni. Dr. D. Y. Patil, Director also attended the event and asked the students questions regarding their books reviewed. Both the evaluators were given a token of appreciation by the library.

Chintan Mehta was awarded the First Prize, Shraddha Chavan won the Second Prize and Dilnaz won the third Prize. All the participants were given certificates.

2nd International Research Conference

GNIMS Business School successfully conducted its 2nd International Research Conference on the Brand Theme “Library: A Temple of Learning and Knowledge”, on January 21, 2017.

The Inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Ajit Singh, Former Director General, GNIMS Business School and the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Bigyan Verma, Director, GNIMS Business School. Dr. Kiran Mangaonkar, Principal, G. N. Khalsa College shared his views about the conference. Highlights of the conference were given by Ms. Kuljeet G. Kahlon, Library Manager, GNIMS Business School.

Sarasvati Pooja & Author Outreach Programs

GNIMS Library conducted the annual Sarasvati Pooja on September 29, 2017. All staff members took the blessings of the Goddess.

It is a trend of GNIMS Library to organize “Author Outreach Program” for the students of First year MMS every year. The annual Author Outreach Program was conducted, by the GNIMS Library in the G. N. Khalsa College Seminar Hall on September 29, 2017 from 3.00 pm till 4.30 pm. Eminent Author Dr. Sandeep Singh gave an interesting PowerPoint Session on Indian Business History. It was an interactive session with lots of questions asked by the students and answered by the author. Ms. Avneet Walia anchored the program wonderfully. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Siddhant Rawle.

First International Research Conference

GNIMS Business School successfully conducted its First International Research Conference on the Theme “Library: A Temple of Learning and Knowledge House”, on February 6, 2016.

The Inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Ajit Singh, Former Director General, GNIMS and the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Bigyan Verma, Director, GNIMS. Sardar Surinderpal Singh Bright, LMC Member, GNIMS graced the Inaugural Function. Dr. Kiran Mangaonkar, Principal, G. N. Khalsa College shared his views about the conference. Highlights of the conference were given by Ms. Kuljeet G. Kahlon, Library Manager, GNIMS.

Keynote address was delivered by Dr. Akhtar Parvez, Librarian, Learning Resource Center, IIM, Indore and the Valedictory address was delivered by Dr. A. Ganesan, Director Library, Prist University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Visit by foreign delegates of Hasselt University, Belgium

Mr. Marc Goovaerts and Mr. Pieter Lernout, two visitors from Hasselt University, Belgium visited GNIMS Library on 21st of November 2015, from 10.00 am to 1.30 pm. An unscheduled session was conducted for half day.

Librarian’s Day was celebrated by GNIMS Library, to commemorate the 123rd Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, Father of Indian Library Science. A half day Seminar was organized to mark this day. Librarians of various Management Institutes participate in this Seminar. The Seminar was interactive along with presentations, demonstrations and discussions. Both the speaker’s solved the questions raised by the Librarians.

Two Days Workshop on “Effective Library Management”

The second workshop conducted for the Semi-professional library staff was held in Room No. 202, on 8th and 9th January 2015. The first one was held on 8 and 9th July 2010.

This workshop enhanced the various aspects of practical knowledge which are necessary for contemporary library. In today’s growing competitive world, competitors are left with no choice but to add value to their academic skills to exhibit their true potential. Performance at the work place depends on how an individual handles in various situations.
