Superintendent’s Report

New Reporting of District COVID Cases:

Going forward, the district will not be sending out emails to inform of COVID cases in schools. Instead, we will post the identified positive cases by student, staff and school at the end of each week. Cases for the week of March 7th are already posted on the school website and this will be the first item under the pink COVID banner on the district site. The link for our COVID information page on the website is: gmrsd.org/covid

Recognitions:

Girls’ Varsity Basketball Wins League Title - The Turners Falls High School Girls’ Basketball Team advanced to the WMass Semi-Finals. We are very proud that the girls had an outstanding season, culminating with their first Franklin County South League Title since 1983! Congratulations!

Turners Falls High School Extravaganza - I would like to recognize Principal Christopher Barnes, Assistant Principal Kristen Schreiber, and all of the staff, student, and parent volunteers who helped make this event a great success. Wednesday, March 2, the administration and high school students and staff hosted nearly 100 students and families at the first TFHS Extravaganza. The event highlighted a variety of TFHS programs, clubs, events, and activities, allowing students and families to get a better picture of the opportunities that are available for students at the high school. The evening concluded with a student-faculty game of dodgeball. Since that night, we have received several communications from families who had a great time and who were filled with pride in our high school, our students, and our staff. Thank you again to all those who helped make this night fun and exciting for everyone.
