The 5th and 6th grade Farming Club collected detergent and Gatorade bottles for the House of Compassion during the month of December.  We were able to fill approximately 60 bottles with detergent.  Thank you to all those who donated to this cause!  We greatly appreciate it!

2nd Quarter Celebrations

The Elementary students celebrated good behavior for the 2nd quarter on January 18, 2023. The Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students enjoyed popcorn from Theisens and were able to wear their pajamas, while enjoying a movie in the classroom. The 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade students went to the Gladbrook theater and enjoyed a pop and popcorn while watching National Treasure.

Elementary Band News

Congratulations to the 6th grade band students for their successful participation in the Middles Honor Band, held January 28 at South Hamilton High School! While the event was cancelled due to inclement weather, we are still so proud of: Kayla Dingmann, Jacob Jackson, Alaney Sienknecht,  Natalie Upah, and Alexa Watts.

Congratulations are also in order to 5th grade band students Tyler Nodland and Sophia Uetz for their acceptance into the Beginners Honor Band Festival, which will take place February 18 at the College Community School District in Cedar Rapids. Great job!

ATTENTION: UPCOMING 5-6 BAND SOLO CONTEST

The 5-6 Instrumental Music Solo Contest will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 4-8PM, in the GMG Elementary Music Room. Band students have been assigned a five minute time slot, where they will perform the solo they’ve been working on, for judge’s comments and a rating. Mrs. Gartin will accompany the students on piano. Families are encouraged to attend the performance, and students are to arrive no earlier than ten minutes before their performance time. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Elizabeth Driskell as our judge for the contest. Mrs. Driskell is the orchestra director at Ames High School, and ready to hear the hard work that’s being made. Please let Mrs. Gartin know if you have any questions.

Also, please be aware of our upcoming Spring Concerts! Please mark your calendars Tuesday, May 2 for the K-3 Spring Concert, and Thursday, May 4 for the 4-6 Spring Concert. The theme for each concert is still to be decided by our music classes, but please know it will be a wonderful hour of music and celebration for all!
