Capital Soccer: Running November 3rd - April 5th.
O-Team Annoucement from Nick:
"Tonight we start our 4 month term with Capital Soccer. They will be here 6 days a week (no Fridays) and have various starting times. Tonight is at 7 pm and the rest of the days you can see in the OTeam Events calendar. They will stage their kids in the lobby prior to each round of practices (they have several groups a night) and the coaches will walk the kids down to the courts. We expect that path down to use the stairs and the lower door for entry, not the ramp. Tonight we are putting signs up and they will remain up for the 4 month period. Each time they arrive they will be responsible for reconfiguring the courts to their needs. But in the mornings we will be responsible for setting the courts back up. There will be an instructional video provided on that process which we will shoot tomorrow morning. Also note that their practices run until 9 pm so on M/T/W/Th they will be leaving around the same time as we lock up. If they are lagging behind you do not need to wait for them, and can just leave the barn lights, front desk lights and lobby lights one. They are trained on how to shut those down. But DO lock the front door on your way out. It is also helpful to let them know if you are leaving ahead of them so they are aware they need to turn off lights. On Saturdays and Sundays they will definitely be leaving well after we close and will let themselves out. We also need to leave the front door open for their late-shift kids to be able to access the building. If you have questions or issues with the Capital Soccer group you can direct them to me."
Follow up on Capital Soccer - It is always a shock to transition in to this relationship each November, so thank you all for adjusting and also recognizing that these visitors are paying members of our community - they just pay in a different way than regular members. The fact that they come in gaggles and are kids makes them seem like a distraction or nuisance, but they are still our guests. There are always things that we have to remind their coaches of, and today they were reminded that:
They need to escorting their kids down in groups each hour rather than flowing past our desk on their own. There may still be an occasional late kid tracking through but our expectation is that they are with a coach.
There are no use of balls in the lobby, down the halls, or in their court-side seating area. Please correct bad actors - and remember that they are kids with balls in their hands, and kids don't always follow rules even though they are told.
They should be wearing indoor shoes with no dirt on them. I will be showing their coaches where our cordless vacuum is kept so they can do spot cleans at the end of their practice sessions.
Also note that if you are ever responsible for setting up after soccer practice, or are just out in the PB area during the day, Tom and I will be laying down markings on the floor to more accurately locate all the barriers, nets and tables. I would appreciate if that entire court space is treated as your area of responsibility and keeping it neat and organized is greatly appreciated.
Parking is a much bigger issue that we're working on solving with some overflow area, but if you have people complaining, or just acknowledging the fact that it's hard at 5 pm, remind them that the lot extends up towards the pool entry, and after 5 pm they can even park in the lot up by childcare/GMUW.
