Throughout the course, participants learned about several tools for boosting their mental resilience. Some of the tools include the health and wellbeing wheel, which promotes reflections on how to improve personal wellbeing, and videos such as "The Scientific Power of Thought", which focus on techniques like positive affirmations.
Early in the program, we shared the metaphor of a tree as a way to represent our lives and help identify and share strengths, resources, accomplishments, and goals. During this activity, participants created a "Tree of Life" to share their life experiences with each other.
Sport can be a great driver for female empowerment, by teaching women and girls the values of teamwork, self-reliance, and resilience. It can help girls understand their bodies and build confidence and the ability to speak up. During this activity, participants chose female role models that they admire to share with the class.
Journaling has been shown to be an effective method to deal with anxiety, stress, and depression. It is a great safe space for reflecting on problems and fears, and an opportunity for positive self-talk. In this activity, participants reflected on how their Mood Tracking journaling experience affected their mental health and behaviors.
