If you are trying to decide on a career in engineering, here are a few questions to consider.
Which area of engineering might suit your interests? The variety of jobs is wide. If you already have an interest in space, vehicles, chemistry, computers, food, film, fashion, electronics or protecting the planet, for example, you could explore careers relating to these.
What kind of role? Are you interested in research, design and development? Do you want to use advanced technology? Would activities such as installing new systems, testing and fault-finding interest you? Or maybe you want to become a skilled craftsperson, producing detailed pieces of work.
At what stage do you want to enter the industry? Are you keen to get started in the workplace straight from school? Or do you want to stay in full-time education as far as possible, perhaps to degree level?
