Year 13
Friday 9 January 2026
Friday 9 January 2026
We have returned from the winter break with real purpose, starting the term by looking ahead and setting the tone for the months to come. The week began with discussions around New Year’s resolutions, encouraging students to think carefully about the habits and routines that will support them through this final stretch. Alongside this, there was a focus on being an active listener, a key skill as lessons become increasingly content heavy and feedback driven.
This week also included important reminders around accepting offers, alongside a well-attended employability and apprenticeships session on Thursday. It was encouraging to see students continuing to explore a wide range of pathways and thinking practically about the skills needed beyond school.
Our in-person parents’ evening provided a valuable opportunity for students and families to reflect on current progress and consider the steps needed to reach their goals. These conversations offered clarity around next steps and helped sharpen focus as we move closer to exams.
Looking ahead to next week, we are pleased to welcome Michele Miller, who will be delivering a workshop focused on exam success. This session will support students in acting on the feedback discussed at Parents’ and Carer's Evening, helping them refine their revision strategies, recognise what is already working well, and identify areas for improvement.
It has been a positive and purposeful start to the year. Let’s keep the momentum going as we move into the next phase of Year 13.

Michele Miller Revision Skills Workshop – Monday
We would like to remind students about the Michele Miller Revision Skills Workshop taking place on Monday. This is a valuable session and one that all students must attend.
Abbey to Merton 1: 11.20am – 12.50pm
Merton 2 to Tudor: 1.00pm – 2.30pm, students are free to leave at 2.30pm
The workshop will focus on key skills and strategies to support students at this crucial stage of Year 13. We have worked with Michele for many years, and her revision skills sessions are incredibly valuable for students. Students will require their Chromebook, no apple devices or laptops will be allowed, or a printout of their last PPE paper and mark scheme from 1 subject they study.
Exam Stress Support – Upcoming Workshop
Exam stress workshops will be running later this term to support students as they approach final assessments. Ahead of these sessions, a short form will be shared to identify students who would benefit from attending. We encourage Parents and Carers to talk with their child about exam stress and wellbeing, so that students feel comfortable accessing support if needed.
University Offers – Responding to Deadlines
Students are reminded of the importance of carefully monitoring and responding to deadlines related to university offers. Missing a reply to deadline can result in an offer being declined automatically. Please continue to encourage your child to regularly check UCAS Hub and stay organised with next steps.
Uniform Expectations
A reminder that full school uniform standards remain in place. Blazers must be worn at all times, students should be in appropriate school shoes, and skirts must be of an appropriate length. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain high standards across the Sixth Form.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support as we guide students through this important stage of their final year.
