Art Activities and projects...

This year will start by delving into the Art Elements of Design, including the various types for each and how to use them within small activities during marking period one.

Major projects will be explored from marking period 2-4.  These projects will include…

1. How to work with various media: graphite, ink, water based markers, acrylic paint, others. 

2. Learn and apply various techniques/methodology: light theory, mark making,  linear perspective, figure drawing proportions, and facial proportions.

3. Creating original works of art that explore composition: Still life rendering, figure-ground ambiguity, personal narrative sculpture and Abstract Expressionism to name a few. 

Art History...

We will be learning about various art genres and artists throughout the year to provide an understanding of how art evolved and developed through the centuries. They will also serve as inspiration for our art projects. 

Art Genres:  Renaissance, Abstract Expressionism,  Contemporary and more. 

Artists: Leonardo da Vinci, Betye Saar, Gustav Klimt, Jackson Pollock, Kehindi Wiley and more.

Personal Aesthetics are explored...

Definition of Aesthetic - Concerned with beauty or the appreciation of beauty.

On several of our large scaled assignments you will be asked to develop a solution to the design problem that showcases your own design aesthetic. 

Of course I will help you along the way in developing your style with prompts, suggestions, and encouragement, but ultimately it is up to you.
