7th & 8th Grade Cycle class
Art Activities for the cycle class will consist of some of the following...
Learning about, understanding how to use and working with design principles: harmony and variety in creating various cohesive designs.
Utilizing design principles and craft techniques in developing a stained glass mosaic coaster design.
The art of animation- how it evolved over the century and how to create either a cartoon cell or flip book.
Understanding how to use and develop a Range of Values
Apply your understanding of value within a design that suggests deep space and/or form.
Get to know a variety of artists including: Reta Scott, Henri Matisse, Kehindi Wiley, Romare Beardon, and others.
How to recreate a 2-D design into a 3-D form
Working with a variety of materials and media: markers, colored pencils, cardboard, stained glass, etc, in creating strong works of art.

The cycle class runs about 5 weeks which gives the students a small sampling of what we do in the high school art department. Activities are developed for students to feel and be successful in the creation of art.
