The tournament is still on for Saturday 1/24/2026. Start time for Round 1 is 9:30am.
Time control adjusted to Game 40/5d so we will end at a similiar time as last year.
Doors open by 8am (due to weather we will still be setting up, but you are welcome inside).

UEC Team section is intended only for conference teams.
The tournament allows non-UEC teams to compete too, though they may be put in their own team section. The open section will have players mixed between the UEC and non-UEC teams. "If entered, "teamless" open players will be in their own awards group.
Including non-UEC teams is an annual decision, usually made in early December at the UEC Activities Summit.
Four-Round Swiss-paired 8-Board Team of Game 45/5d.
The Open is four rounds of Swiss-paired Game 40/5d. Maybe more than one section for the open based on number of entries.
This tournament determines the champion chess team of the Upstate Eight Conference.
Formal awards ceremony to follow at conclusion of the tournament for conference awards.

If you are a member school of the Upstate Eight Conference there is no cost to enter players at this event.
Non-member schools pay an entry fee of $100 per team entered and $15 per player entered in the open, with a maximum of $180 entry fee per school.
Checks payable to Glenbard East High School. Payable prior to, the day of the event or within 30 days after the event.
Tournament Manager will provide you an invoice and receipt.

Trophies for 2nd and 3rd place UEC teams
Medals for top 3 UEC teams.
All Conference certificate.
Top non-UEC team earns a trophy.
Top 3 in Open earn ribbons. (There might be more than 1 section).
Individual Ribbons for 2pt, 3pt and 4pt performances for any wins (team, open or both) for any player.
