1. How do I enroll my student at Glenbard West?
Start by completing the New Student Pre-Registration form available on the Glenbard West website. Once submitted, you’ll receive instructions for submitting required documents and the next steps.
2. What documents are required for enrollment?
You'll need:
Proof of residency (three documents) + Student Residency Questionnaire
Certified copy of the birth certificate
State-required Language forms: Home Language Survey, Race/Ethnicity form, Language Preference Form (per ISBE)
Most recent report card or transcript (if transferring)
Health and immunization records
3. My student has an IEP/504 Plan. What should I do?
Please notify the School Counseling Office during enrollment. We’ll coordinate with our Student Services team to review your child’s plan and ensure supports are in place.
4. How do I set up my PowerSchool account?
Once your student is added to the system, you'll receive login credentials from one of the school counseling administrative assistants. Instructions for linking your new student to your existing account (if applicable) are explained on the PowerSchool Help page.
5. When will we meet with a counselor to choose classes?
For students enrolling in Glenbard District 87 for the first time during the school year, a counselor will contact the parent or guardian to set up an appointment once the student is fully registered in PowerSchool. Please note that the district office cannot issue an iPad until registration in PowerSchool is complete.
During the summer, counselors will reach out after final transcripts are received and PowerSchool parent accounts are established to schedule an enrollment appointment and finalize course selections - typically in late July or early August. As above, the district office will not issue or ship an iPad until the student is fully registered in PowerSchool.
6. Can my student take summer school classes before starting in the fall?
Yes! Incoming students may enroll in summer school courses offered by Glenbard District 87. Registration is typically coordinated through the Glenbard West website.
7. How do I find information about athletics or summer camps?
Athletic registration and summer camp information can be found on our Athletics website. Most summer programs are run in partnership with the Glen Ellyn Park District.
8. Are there orientation events for incoming freshmen?
Yes! Glenbard West hosts a Freshman Meet & Greet in early August (optional) and a Freshman Orientation (recommended). Details are emailed to families and posted on the school calendar.
9. My student is transferring from a private or out-of-district school. Anything different?
We may request additional records, such as standardized test scores or previous school withdrawal forms. We'll guide you through this process as needed.
10. Who should I contact if I have questions during enrollment?
You can always reach out to the School Counseling Office by emailing both the Enrollment Coordinator and the School Counseling Administrative Assistant at gw_reg@glenbard.org.
