7th & 8th Grade School Sponsored Sports - Rules & Good Things to Know!
Prior to starting a season, every athlete needs to:
Pay their $15 fee either online or to the GMS office- this will cover the whole school year no matter how many sports you participate in.
Every player should also have a valid athletic physical on file with the athletic director. Please contact Mr. Jansen if you have questions.
Typically in May of each year Burnett Medical Center will host a FREE physical opportunity for Grantsburg athletes- stay tuned!
Athletic physicals are good for two years.
Please pick up your child on time after games (home or away) and practice. Coaches cannot leave until all athletes are picked up so plan ahead!
Athletes are student-athletes. The student part comes before the athlete part. If athletes are not performing in the classroom academically or behaviorally there will be consequences.
Need a GPA of 1.67 or C- overall and have no Fs in any class.
Each sport follows its own rules but here are general guidelines for athlete attendance:
Every effort should be made to never miss a practice
Athletes must be in school for half of a day to participate in practices.
Athletes must be in school for a full day to participate in games.
Each sport typically dresses up in some capacity at school on game days. Examples might be: dress up (just look nice), wear the jersey, wear khakis, etc. Each coach will communicate this.
Transportation is provided to all away events. Athletes are expected to ride to and from the event on the school-provided transportation.
Return trip exception- parents/ guardians may sign out their athlete to ride home with them.
No athlete will be given permission to ride home with anyone other than their parent/ guardian unless:
A completed Waiver-Permission to Transport Child form is signed and approved
A snack is available for all games and practices for the athletes after school. However, many athletes will need additional snacks from home on game nights as they can get long and they're over the dinner hour.
